ElectrologyStudent

At the Monterey Bay Institute of Electrology you will learn how to help your clients build self esteem and self assurance. The Institute provides students with high quality equipment and thorough, comprehensive instruction in the theory and practice of permanent hair removal. In addition to the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology’s health and safety rules, the Institute has incorporated Infection Control Standards for the Practice of Electrology as developed by the American Electrology Association (AEA) with assistance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A total of 600 hours practical training and technical instruction is required in California to qualify for the state licensing examination. Students who wish to practice in states which do not have the mandatory 600 hours may take the 350 to 500 hour electrology course. Additional hours may be contracted by the student who needs to fulfill various licensing requirements for their state. Theory hours may easily be adjusted to meet specific state requirements.

The curriculum includes all modalities – Galvanic, Multineedle, Thermolysis, and Blend methods using both the flash and manual techniques including high and low intensity Thermolysis.

MBIE offers a flexible schedule: open enrollment, starting anytime, with full and part time classes offered. The 600 hour course may be completed within 19 weeks. We also provide a listing of local housing available for our students.

Each student who successfully graduates will be awarded a diploma. They will also be prepared to meet the board certification requirements for obtaining their licensure as a Licensed Electrologist.

MBIE does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, natural origin, sex, age, or disability.
